McColl's Retail Group were holding an awards evening at Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool on Wednesday 20th May 2015, and asked if I'd come along to perform some close up magic between courses - followed by a short stage set just before the awards ceremony properly kicked off. Specifically, they wanted me to perform my version of the famous bullet catch (a trick which is claimed to have killed around 11 magicians) with a paintball gun; after the event managers, Juice Live Communications, had seen a performance of mine on YouTube. The event was absolutely brilliant and I imagine I'll write about it in another blog post - but as a cheeky teaser; when I arrived at the racecourse, I discovered that the stage was in the middle of the room, meaning I was literally surrounded by tables of guests! More on that another time...
Following the success of the awards evening, the events manager of McColl's got in touch with me to ask if I'd be able to perform at a corporate fundraising golf day they were having, held at Whittlebury Hall Golf Club in Northamptonshire, on the 9th July 2015.
I was delighted to be asked to perform again, and it was a real pleasure to be a part of the day. Similarly to the awards evening in Aintree, they wanted me to perform some close up magic during the meal, followed by a set on stage - this time however, they were after around 30-40 minutes, as a way of ending the night for their invited guests.
It was a really fun event and with being a golf fan it was a real pleasure to be a part of the night - it's just a shame I couldn't get a quick round in first!
By the way, in case you haven't seen my paintball catch magic trick, you can watch a full live performance here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mx0WptioXuM
